I have a decent sized knot on my forearm from all the blocking but it was a good lesson and good conditioning. Besides that not much else is going on. I need to start running more, and the weight gainer worked I was up to 137 but I have no money to buy more haha. All in all it was good though.

It's been a while.
I havent been able to do as much training as I like recently do to car problems, which are now fixed but I have no money ahaha. So I'm pretty much working all the time to try and get some money saved up and pay my bills. But Karate was two days ago and it was good. We did some drills where your partner attacks and you can perform any block and counter you want, without letting them know.

Slow ride.
Today was a slow and pretty much uneventful day. I did some basic training, just went over some basic Karate punches but with a resistance band. It actually made the moves harder to do. Besides that though not a lot just a little bag work. I really want it to be sunday already, to see if this weight gainer is working. I just have no idea how much I'll weigh but I know that I must be taking in nearly three thousand plus calories a day. So I should have some weight.
Put I really want to try to get up to like one hundred and sixty five pounds and than drop twenty, by doing a lot of carido and taking just whey protein. I'll still lift of course but I'll need an incredibly low fat diet after this to look good. I think with time though I'll be able to pull this off, we will see.

Goju Ryu can hurt
So it has been about two days since I updated. Monday I took the day off and everyone needs there rest plus I ended up staying the night with Kaylee. Tuesday however was a different story. We had class, we did warm up stretches which in themselves weren't that hard, it was hard however when we had to hold them. After that Kaylee and I being beginners got to go over some basic punches, kicks and blocks. After that is when it got really interesting.
We got to do three part drills which is where one person throws three attacks and the other person blocks the three attacks and than counter attacks. Well it was all going well until Kaylee didn't block high enough and I hit her in the face. I felt terrible, but it was pretty funny at the same time. After we went through all of those we got to do pushups, leg ups and squats.
The worst part of class is how hot it is plus wearing the gi. After ten pushups I'm sweating just because of the heat, but it's a good work out. The thing that I feel that I need to work on the most is my cardio. I hate running though, I prefer to up my stamina by doing boxing drills, bag work and sparring. Also with me trying to gain weight running is just to much of a calorie burner, however a stationary bike is great. It burns less calories and yet helps with your stamina.
Either way I have decent stamina, I can box for periods of time so it isn't a big deal at the moment. As for the weight gainer I'm not sure if it's working or not, I just want sunday to come already so I can see if I've made any progress or not as far as the weight goes. Well I guess thats it for today. I'll try to get some stuff done today and hopefully have a good post tomorrow.

Day one, a new beginning.
So today was a very long day. I got four hours of sleep and had to work for ten hours. five in the am to three in the pm. It sucked, I was exhausted. I still managed to train for about an hour and a half. I worked out my upper body today and practiced my Thai roundhouse kick and Karate basics.
So my work out consisted of bench press. one hundred and twenty pounds at three sets and six reps per set. Biceps curls at seventy pounds three sets six reps per set. Finally shoulder press at eighty pounds at three sets and six reps. The shoulder press and curls where easy but I've lost alot of strength in my chest. After that I can back home and worked the bag with my Karate basics and than practiced a lot of kicks. My left kick needs some work but I still have a pretty mean kick in my right, I just hope I can get my shins conditioned back up soon.
I started taking the weight gainer today. It tastes alright, not horrible but not amazing. It seems to work though seeing how I wasn't hungry for the longest time, but I know for sure that I consumed over two thousand calories today. So hopefully I'll have gained weight by sunday, it's a big goal for me, I've never been past one hundred and thirty five pounds in my life I hope to change that soon.
I asked Kaylee for help finding me people to spar against and it seems she may of found someone for me to go against. He is a boxer and a wrestler. I have no ground game at the moment so thats why I'm going to be spending so much time practicing kicks. I can keep him at a distance with them, other wise I'll be taken down and it'll be all up to luck from there on out.
Tomorrow hopefully while my car is in the shop nick and I will get to check out this BJJ place, I really want to take some lessons in it. It would be pretty helpful, as well as helping with cardio. Well I think that's all I have for the night, I'll post again tomorrow.

The beginning
For the longest time now I've wanted to be a fighter. My name is Matthew J Cohen and this is the beginning of what I hope becomes a daily thing. I'm hoping to really become a fighter and I've givin myself a year to get into an amateur mma fight. So alittle bit about that background, I used to train in Muay Thai and western boxing and always wanted to fight but never got the chance to. I now study Goju Ryu Karate and really mix it in with my Muay Thai and Boxing. I really decided to keep this blog because I want to remind myself of what I want.
my goals are
Number One. Keep training my Karate while mixing it with my other skills.
Number Two. Get into better shape, good enough to compete in.
Number Three. Get up to 145 to 150 pounds.
Number Four. Shed off the fat once I get to that weight.
Number Five. Finally compete.
Those are my goals as of right now, I currently weigh in at 130.6Lbs with 9.1% body fat and 48.3% muscle mass. It's not bad but not good enough as well. I bought a weight gainer so tomorrow I will start taking it. I'll weigh in every sunday. I know I'll be gaining fat with this as well, but I'm also going to be eating a low fat diet. Lots of chicken, tuna veggies, that sort of thing.
Well I guess thats enough for tonight, I'll post more tomorrow.
